I also had a head gasket failure so I have pulled the heads and manifolds. The heads are getting a valve job, testing for warpage and pressure test. The manifolds are going to be re-surfaced to hopefully remove any
If the "Y" pipe on the 4.7 is similar to the one on the 5.7 (has the cats. on it), the only choke point in the pipe was where it connected to the exhaust manifold. On the Hemi, that size was 1 5/8 in. Quite a difference between that and 3 in.
